JOHN BRADBURY SHAW MAN SENTENCED FOR CHILD PORNOGRAPHY OFFENSES IN MANCHESTER

In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Shaw, a local man named John Bradbury has been sentenced to prison for possessing and creating indecent images of children. The incident came to light after police conducted a raid on his residence in Pennine View in May 2018, uncovering a horrifying collection of illicit material stored across multiple devices.

During the search, authorities discovered that Bradbury, then 71 years old, had amassed thousands of disturbing images depicting minors engaged in sexual activities. The evidence included both images downloaded from the internet and photographs taken by Bradbury himself from his home. The police found that some of these images originated from photographs he had taken within his own home, specifically from his bedroom window, where he zoomed in on children’s underwear, capturing multiple images for sexual gratification.

Prosecutor Maria Brennan detailed the extent of the material found at the court hearing. She revealed that the police recovered a total of 1,235 images classified as Category A, which is considered the most serious, along with 1,043 Category B images and 2,322 Category C images. Additionally, there were 1,359 images that originated from nine photographs taken directly by Bradbury himself. Most of these images were stored on a USB stick connected to an HP laptop, making it clear that he had a significant collection of illegal content.

The images depicted children predominantly between the ages of six and ten, with some involving more disturbing content. The court was informed that some of the Category A images included children engaged in sexual acts with animals, while the Category C images showed adults performing sexual acts on children’s faces. These revelations underscored the severity of the offenses committed by Bradbury.

It was also noted that Bradbury did not cooperate with authorities until nearly a year after the initial investigation, and he did not appear in court until this year. His unblemished life prior to these offenses was acknowledged, but the court emphasized the gravity of his actions.

Judge Tina Landale, presiding over the case, sentenced Bradbury to 26 months in prison, citing the necessity of a custodial sentence given the nature of the crimes. She expressed her condemnation of his behavior, stating, “Rather than being heartbroken seeing this material, you derived sexual gratification from it. By consuming this material, you cause others to make it.”

The judge also imposed a ten-year sexual harm prevention order, which includes strict conditions such as a ban on using emails or Skype without permission, restrictions on contact with children, and prohibitions on visiting public libraries or schools. These measures aim to prevent any further offenses and protect the community from potential harm caused by Bradbury’s actions.
