POLICE PUZZLE OVER MISSING CONVICTED SEX OFFENDER JOHN ARCHER BARNETT IN DOVER

Police have issued an urgent appeal to locate John Archer Barnett, a convicted child sex offender who is currently missing. Barnett, who has a prominent beer belly, was jailed for four years after being convicted in 2003 of indecently assaulting an eight-year-old boy.

Kent Police reported that Barnett, also known as John Owen, was last seen by his landlord on April 14 in Dover. Since then, he is believed to have been travelling around the UK. Authorities stated that he left the Dover area after social services intervened due to concerns from officers involved in his management that he was becoming too close to a family with children.

A police spokesperson explained: "He has failed to notify police of his new address and is now wanted for breach of the notification requirements under the Sexual Offences Act 2003."

Barnett has reportedly visited various locations including London, Blackpool, Brighton, Scarborough, Dartford, and Bournemouth. Authorities in Hampshire believe he may be spotted moving through their county.

The police added: "Barnett is considered to pose a risk to children and may seek to befriend a family in order to offend." He may have altered his appearance by shaving his head and removing his beard.

He is described as white, approximately 5ft 8in tall, with a beer belly, grey receding hair, and a beard. He has eagle tattoos on both arms and might be wearing a hearing aid. Barnett is known to smoke and drink whiskey. Additionally, he has a visible eczema-like skin condition on both forearms and hands. Authorities also note that he suffered a stroke, causing slight drooping on one side of his face.
