JOHN ACTON FROM BRISTOL CAUGHT WITH INDECENT IMAGES OF CHILDREN AND ANIMALS
In a case that has shocked the local community of Bristol, a retired baker from the suburb of Patchway has been found guilty of possessing indecent images involving minors and animals.John Acton, who resides on Bevington Close, appeared before Bristol Crown Court to face charges related to the possession of such illicit material.
Acton, aged 64, pleaded guilty to ten counts of creating indecent images of a person under the age of 16.
The court heard that these images were of a young individual, highlighting the severity of the offense.
In addition to these charges, he admitted to possessing a total of seven indecent images, which included five depicting children and two involving animals.
The nature of these images has caused considerable concern among authorities and the public alike.
The presiding judge, Julian Lambert, sentenced Acton to a term of 15 weeks in prison, but this sentence was suspended for two years.
Furthermore, the court mandated that he register as a sex offender for a period of five years, a measure intended to monitor and restrict his activities moving forward.
As part of his probation conditions, Acton is also required to observe a six-month curfew, during which he must remain at his residence on an electronic tag from 9 pm to 6 am each day.
During the sentencing, Judge Lambert emphasized the gravity of possessing such material, stating, “Those who acquire and retain child abuse images are indirectly responsible for the perpetration of child abuse.” The court also ordered that all indecent images in his possession be destroyed to prevent further distribution or misuse.
It was noted that John Acton is the sole carer for his wife, who is reported to be in poor health.
Despite his personal circumstances, the court underscored the importance of safeguarding children and animals from exploitation and abuse, reinforcing the message that such offenses are taken very seriously by the justice system.
