JAILED EX SENT LETTER FROM PRISON TO FORMER GIRLFRIEND HE VICIOUSLY BATTERED
A railway worker and convicted domestic abuser, Joe Blurton, was sentenced for breaching a restraining order by sending a letter to his former girlfriend, which he was forbidden from doing.
Despite serving a prison sentence for controlling and coercive behaviour as well as two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, Blurton used another inmate's details to send the letter out of prison, knowing it would not be monitored.
The victim received the letter and was in 'complete shock', as she recognized Blurton's writing.
She now feels vulnerable and intimidated, despite the restraining order.
Blurton's current address is HMP Stocken, Rutland.
He pleaded guilty to breaching the restraining order for the Valentine's Day letter, and the court heard he previously threatened her with death, and subjected her to physical and mental abuse, including suffocation, punching, and controlling her social media.
He was previously sentenced to three-and-a-half years at Derby Crown Court, where a judge described him as a 'dangerous young man' whose violence persists.
The court considers sentencing at Nottingham Crown Court on July 7.
