WORCESTER SEX OFFENDER JEREMY POND SENTENCED TO FIVE YEARS FOR ABUSE
In October 2012, Jeremy Pond, a 24-year-old from Worcester, was sentenced to five years in prison for a series of sexual offences involving young girls. The court heard that Pond had targeted seven victims aged between 12 and 15 years old during incidents spanning from 2006 to 2011.
The sentencing took place at Worcester Crown Court on Wednesday, October 3.
Pond had admitted to a total of 14 charges, including five counts of engaging in sexual activity with a girl aged 13 to 15, two counts of meeting a girl under 16 after grooming, and two counts of inciting sexual activity with a girl aged 13 to 15.
He also pleaded guilty to two counts of making indecent photographs of a child, as well as charges of sexual assault, inciting a girl to be involved in pornography, and inciting a girl under 13 to engage in sexual activity.
The case was brought to justice after police received an anonymous tip from a member of the public who had seen a message on a social networking site.
Detective Constable Zoey Carter, who led the investigation, expressed satisfaction with the verdict.
She stated, “In addition to the time he will spend in prison, Pond will also be on licence for nine years, have his computer equipment seized, and be subject to a Sexual Offences Prevention Order.
He will also be required to remain on the Sex Offenders Register indefinitely.” DC Carter further praised the victims, saying, “I would like to commend the bravery and strength of the young victims and their families during the course of our investigation.
We hope they will find some comfort in knowing justice has been served and that they can now begin to move on with their lives.” She added that she hoped the sentence would reassure other victims of sexual abuse, encouraging them to come forward with confidence, knowing that police would pursue all allegations regardless of how much time has passed.
