SCOTTISH STALKER’S JAIL SENTENCE QUASHED OVER HARASSMENT OF DATING VICTIMS
A stalker who was jailed for hounding three men she met on dating websites has succeeded in a bid to have her prison sentence quashed.
Jennifer Tait, 38, received a two-year custodial sentence in February 2024 for harassing her victims, whom she had brief flings with and then obsessively pursued after they cut off contact.
The court heard how she created a blog and social media accounts where she named the men and their alleged babies.
Jurors learned that Tait lied about pregnancy and made obsessive messages, with one victim, a 40-year-old pilot, describing the messages as "obsessive and continuous".
Her legal team argued that the sentence was inappropriate, considering her lack of previous offending and mental health issues.
The court later agreed that the sheriff erred in not imposing a community payback order instead of imprisonment, and her sentence was quashed.
It was also noted that she is expecting another child in October, and that the jail term had a significant impact on her children.
