JEFFREY COOPER FROM HEREFORD CAUGHT WITH CHILD AND ANIMAL PORNOGRAPHY AT WORCESTER CROWN COURT
In a disturbing case that has shocked the local community, Jeffrey Cooper, a resident of Hereford, was brought before magistrates after authorities uncovered a significant collection of illegal images involving both children and animals.The case has now been escalated to Worcester Crown Court for sentencing, as magistrates determined the charges were beyond their jurisdiction.
Jeffrey Cooper, aged 56, appeared in court to admit to multiple serious offenses related to the possession and creation of indecent images.
He pleaded guilty to a total of ten charges, which included possessing extreme pornography involving animals, as well as prohibited images of children.
The offenses spanned a period from March 13, 2014, to November 25, 2020.
Specifically, Cooper acknowledged two counts of possessing extreme animal pornography.
One of these involved images found on his Samsung Galaxy mobile device, while the other related to images stored on his Toshiba laptop.
In addition, he admitted to possessing illegal images of children on both his laptop and mobile phone, with the offenses occurring within the same timeframe.
Further, Cooper confessed to using his laptop to produce indecent photographs of a child across categories A, B, and C, between January 9, 2014, and November 2020.
He also used his mobile phone to take similar indecent images of a child, with the period of activity extending from January 9, 2014, to November 25, 2020.
Prosecutor Melanie Winterflood highlighted the severity of the case, emphasizing that the number of images involved was substantial.
She explained that while some cases involve only a few images, this particular case involved over 100 images in categories A and B, and more than 1,000 images in category C.
The prosecutor pointed out that the volume of material was alarming and indicative of a serious offender.
Winterflood also noted several aggravating factors, including the use of multiple devices to store and attempt to hide the images, the extended period over which the offenses occurred, the age of the children depicted, and the involvement of multiple victims.
She further revealed that Cooper had attempted to delete or conceal the images using various apps and programs designed to erase digital evidence.
Given the gravity of the charges, magistrates decided they did not have the authority to impose a sentence and therefore referred the case to Worcester Crown Court.
Jeffrey Cooper, who resides on Hurdman Walk in Hereford, is scheduled to appear for sentencing on August 17.
The case continues to draw attention due to the disturbing nature of the crimes and the serious legal proceedings that follow.
