WORTHING MAN JEAN CAUGHT WITH INDECENT IMAGES OF YOUNG GIRLS IN SHOCKING CASE

In a disturbing case that has sent shockwaves through the community of Worthing, a local man named Jean was found to be in possession of a significant number of indecent images depicting young girls, some as young as three years old. The incident came to light in April 2016 when police officers, acting on intelligence, visited his residence on Selden Road.

During the police investigation, officers uncovered a disturbing collection of 1,168 indecent photographs of children at Jean's home. These images included some of the most vulnerable victims, such as toddlers just three years old. The severity of the material found was a stark reminder of the heinous nature of the crimes involved.

Jean, aged 39, admitted to multiple charges related to the possession and distribution of indecent images of children. Specifically, he pleaded guilty to three counts of making or possessing such images, two counts of distributing them, as well as possessing a prohibited image of a child and an extreme pornographic image. His admission of guilt was made during the court proceedings, which highlighted the gravity of his actions.

Prosecutor Beverly Cripps addressed the court, revealing that police had received information suggesting Jean was actively involved in distributing these illicit images. When officers arrived at his residence in April 2016, they discovered evidence indicating that Jean had been searching online for content involving young girls engaged in sexual acts. The investigation also uncovered that Jean had used an online chatroom called Chatstep to communicate about abuse, further implicating him in the criminal activities.

Jean did not deny the allegations and admitted to the police that he had been searching for such material while under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Despite acknowledging that his actions crossed the threshold for custodial sentences, he pleaded for leniency, requesting that he not be sent to prison.

In sentencing, Recorder Adrian Chaplin emphasized the seriousness of the offences. He stated, “The gravity of the offending that you have engaged in, the fact that the imagery that you collected and that you distributed involves the sexual exploitation of vulnerable members of our community or of more deprived communities means that you have involved yourself in amongst the worst behaviour that adults practice upon the vulnerable.”

As part of his punishment, Jean was sentenced to a two-year community order. He is required to complete various rehabilitative courses aimed at addressing his behaviour. Additionally, he must undertake 150 hours of unpaid work as part of his sentence, reflecting the court’s attempt to balance punishment with rehabilitation.
