MAN JAILED FOR 'DEPLORABLE' SEXUAL ABUSE
Jason Usher has been convicted and sentenced for atrocious sexual crimes carried out 20 years ago, involving two children—a boy and a girl.Nottinghamshire Police verified that his arrest and subsequent conviction were based on witness accounts and evidence presented by the victims in 2021.
During a trial at Nottingham Crown Court, Usher, who is currently confined at HMP Fosse Way in Leicester, received a 12-year imprisonment term.
His criminal acts included persuading a girl to perform sexual acts, participating in sexual activities with minors in front of a third child, and encouraging a boy to carry out sexual acts.
He was also found guilty of actual bodily harm, assaulting a girl with his body, and inappropriate touching of another girl.
The court additionally imposed a lifetime restraining order, a 10-year sexual harm prevention order, and he was registered as a sex offender.
Usher admitted to being involved in the illegal supply of crack cocaine and heroin, as well as possessing criminal property.
Nottinghamshire Police's Detective Constable Helen Winstanley commented that "Usher's conduct was abhorrent and, understandably, the victims are still coping with the aftermath of the abuse all these years later." She also recognized the courage of the victims in coming forward and emphasized that "it's never too late for victims to seek justice." The police hope that the jail sentence will bring some degree of closure to the survivors and their families.
Nottinghamshire Police remains dedicated to providing support for victims and striving to prevent similar crimes in the future.
