HUYTON MAN JAILED FOR MANSLAUGHTER AFTER YEARS OF DOMESTIC ABUSE
A 'callous and cowardly' offender, Jason Turner, has been convicted of causing the manslaughter of his adoptive mother, Valerie, after systematically abusing and assaulting her over the years.
According to reports, Turner moved back into the family home in Byron Close, Huyton, about a year prior to the incident that resulted in her death.
The court heard how Turner had a disturbing history of attacking his adoptive parents, Valerie and Peter, even forcing them to hide in their bedroom for days at a time.
His physical violence included hitting, punching, headbutting, and kicking.
The violence escalated in November 2017, when Turner attacked his mother after becoming suspicious that she smelled, leaving her unconscious and causing injuries to her jaw, abdomen, and legs.
Turner had previously engaged in a reign of terror, with the police describing his behavior as cruel and relentless.
The incident led to Valerie suffering a fatal heart attack, and Turner was arrested at 3:55 am after attempting to cover up his actions by telling neighbors she had fallen and wasn't breathing.
He was later charged with manslaughter, along with four counts of assault on his parents, and was sentenced to ten years and eight months in prison, with an extended license period of three years and four months.
The judge branded him a 'sadist' and condemned his systematic bullying and abuse, stating, 'You simply terrorised them' and 'You made their lives a living hell.' Detective Chief Inspector John Griffith expressed satisfaction with the custodial sentence, emphasizing the tragic impact of years of physical and emotional abuse that culminated in Valerie's death.
This case highlights severe domestic abuse and its devastating consequences.
