UPDATED: CALNE MAN PLEADS GUILTY TO CHILD SEXUAL COMMUNICATION CHARGES
A man from Calne has admitted to engaging in sexual communication with a minor and intimidating a witness.Jason Payne, aged 37, pleaded guilty to both charges during a hearing at Swindon Crown Court on July 8th.
The charges stemmed from an investigation by Wiltshire Police into allegations that he sent sexually explicit messages through Snapchat to a young girl on April 15th, in an attempt to persuade her to send intimate photographs.
Although he was held in custody initially, Payne repeatedly violated his bail conditions by reaching out to the victim and her family, even threatening self-harm unless police withdrew their support.
His sentencing is scheduled for September 3rd, 2026.
Wiltshire Police described Payne as a predator who exploited the victim and violated bail terms to pressure her and her family into withdrawing their evidence.
