JASON MORGAN OF MOLD SENTENCED FOR BRUTAL DOG ATTACK IN NORTH WALES

In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Mold, North Wales, Jason Morgan, born circa 1987 and residing on Beech Drive, was found guilty of causing unnecessary suffering to a dog in a violent assault. The incident, which took place on December 22, 2023, involved Morgan inflicting severe injuries on a small Jack Russell crossbreed named Titch, leading to tragic consequences.

According to court reports, the owner of Titch had asked Morgan to take the dog outside as he was about to relieve himself against a sofa inside the home. However, the situation took a grim turn when the dog was later discovered on a concrete path, suffering from seizures and bleeding. It was revealed that Morgan had thrown the dog into the air during the incident, an act he later described as an “accident.”

Veterinary examinations confirmed the severity of the injuries. Titch was found to have a depressed fracture of the skull and bleeding around the brain, injuries that proved fatal. Despite efforts to save him, the dog was ultimately euthanized. The RSPCA prosecutor, Peter Mitchell, emphasized that “significant force” had been used to cause such injuries, highlighting the brutality of the assault.

During the court proceedings, Morgan’s defense solicitor, Craig Hutchinson, portrayed him as a hardworking individual with no prior criminal record. He expressed Morgan’s remorse, stating that his client was “deeply, deeply remorseful” and had taken responsibility for his actions. Morgan had also accompanied his partner to the veterinary clinic after the incident, demonstrating some level of accountability.

Judge Kimberly Caruana addressed Morgan directly, condemning the act as “particularly unpleasant.” She emphasized the gravity of the crime, noting that Morgan was in a position of trust as the partner of the dog’s owner. The judge condemned the act as “an absolutely disgraceful act on a defenceless animal,” and pointed out that Morgan’s actions had resulted in the dog’s death. The court made it clear that such cases are taken very seriously.

As part of the sentencing, Morgan received a 12-month community order, which includes 180 hours of unpaid work and up to 25 days of rehabilitation activities. Additionally, he was ordered to pay a surcharge of £114. Importantly, Morgan was banned from keeping any animals for six years, with the ban set to expire in June 2030. This case serves as a stark reminder of the consequences of animal cruelty and the importance of safeguarding vulnerable creatures in the community of Mold.
