JASON KING, EDINBURGH CHILD ABUSER, SENTENCED TO SIX YEARS IN PRISON

A man named Jason King, aged 41, has been handed a significant prison sentence after a series of disturbing crimes committed against young girls in the Edinburgh area. The conviction follows a lengthy investigation and a trial held at the High Court in Edinburgh, which concluded on 19 September. During the trial, King was found guilty of three separate counts of indecent behaviour directed at girls who were as young as 12 years old at the time of the offences.

In addition to the sexual offences, King was also convicted on charges related to the supply of illegal drugs. The investigation uncovered that he was involved in the distribution of ecstasy, cocaine, and amphetamines, further highlighting his dangerous and criminal lifestyle. As a result of these convictions, the court sentenced him to six years in prison. Furthermore, he was ordered to be placed on the sex offenders register for life, ensuring ongoing monitoring of his activities after his release.

The crimes took place between 2002 and 2005, during which King targeted three young girls in the Edinburgh area. These victims, aged between 12 and 15 years old, endured abuse at the hands of King over a period of several years. The investigation into his activities was initiated after police received reports concerning his suspicious behaviour from one of the victims, prompting a thorough inquiry by Police Scotland’s Public Protection Unit.

King was formally arrested and charged in December 2016, following the accumulation of evidence against him. Detective Sergeant Craig Guthrie, who is part of Edinburgh’s Public Protection Unit, spoke about the case, describing King as a "dangerous and predatory individual". He emphasized that King had committed multiple serious sexual offences over an extended period, preying on vulnerable young girls by befriending them before exploiting their trust.

Detective Sergeant Guthrie also expressed gratitude towards the victims for their bravery in coming forward and reporting the abuse. He conveyed hope that the sentencing would bring some measure of relief to those affected, allowing them to begin the process of healing and moving past their traumatic experiences.
