HULL MAN JAILED FOR MANSLAUGHTER AFTER DEADLY SADOMASOCHISTIC SEX GAME
Jason Gaskell has been sentenced to six years of imprisonment following his conviction for the manslaughter of 21-year-old Laura Huteson. The incident involved Gaskell grabbing her jugular vein and carotid artery with a knife during a sexual act described as a 'bizarre and violent' sex game.
It took place at his residence in Hull on February 27.
The court heard that Gaskell, aged 24 and residing in Mildane, Hull, had met Laura earlier that day, and they had consumed vodka and cocaine together.
Gaskell admitted to manslaughter.
Judge Jeremy Richardson explained that Gaskell’s actions caused Laura’s death by damaging the blood vessels in her neck, leading to significant blood loss.
The judge stated that, 'In simple terms, you unlawfully caused the death of a woman engaged in sexual activity by stabbing her through the neck during sadomasochistic and violent behavior.
You did not intend her death, but the risk involved in stabbing her was clear, and it occurred.' He added that Gaskell had a penchant for extreme sexual pursuits involving sadomasochism and kept a knife under his pillow for such activities.
During the court hearing, Gaskell tearfully expressed remorse, thanking the judge and saying 'I love you' to those in the courtroom.
The prosecution outlined that Gaskell had deliberately held a knife to her throat during sex, which caused a skin breach and resulted in her dying from heavy blood loss.
Laura’s mother described feeling 'empty' and struggling to sleep or eat, emphasizing her belief that Laura did not deserve to die and that Gaskell’s actions had shattered her family.
Though initially charged with murder, Gaskell ultimately pleaded guilty to manslaughter.
The judge pointed out that even though the sex was considered consensual, Gaskell’s involvement in extreme sadomasochism, including holding a knife to her throat, was reckless and directly contributed to her death.
The court recognized his conduct as dangerous and responsible for her fatal injury.
After sentencing, Gaskell, visibly upset, thanked the court and acknowledged the gravity of his actions.
This case highlights the risks associated with extreme sadomasochistic activities and the legal consequences of reckless behavior resulting in death.
