JASON BELL AND SHOCKING CRIME IN COLCHESTER
A registered sex offender, Jason Bell, has been sentenced to prison after being found living with a two-year-old child in Colchester, Essex.Bell, who resides in Firs Chase, West Mersea, was under police surveillance due to a sexual harm prevention order that had been imposed on him.
This order was specifically designed to restrict his access to certain devices and locations, given the serious concerns about his potential threat to young girls.
Essex Police officials stated that Bell posed a significant risk to young girls, which justified the strict measures in place to safeguard vulnerable individuals.
Under the terms of his sexual harm prevention order, Bell was prohibited from owning or using internet-enabled devices unless monitored by police.
Additionally, he was required to inform authorities of any changes to his residential address.
Despite these restrictions, Bell attempted to evade detection by moving to a new property, which was not known to the police at the time.
In November, authorities received a tip-off indicating Bell’s whereabouts and revealing that a two-year-old child was present at his new residence.
Acting swiftly on this intelligence, police officers dispatched to the scene located Bell as he was returning to the property.
Recognizing him, officers detained him on the spot and took him into custody.
Bell appeared before Colchester Magistrates’ Court, where he was formally charged and subsequently sentenced to one year in prison.
The investigation was led by Officer Harry Callaghan, who commented on the case, stating that Bell “genuinely believed” he would avoid incarceration.
Officer Callaghan recounted, “I responded quickly to the intelligence received and attended the address.
Bell had tried to escape upon seeing the police but was observed returning shortly after, which confirmed his presence at the prohibited location.
Bell thought he could continue breaching the court order designed to protect vulnerable people, and he genuinely believed he wouldn’t face imprisonment.” He further emphasized the importance of police vigilance, saying, “I ensured that the courts were fully briefed about the risk Bell posed, and I am pleased that he received a custodial sentence.
