JAROD TASDELEN FROM WESTBURY BUSTED FOR FLAUNTING COURT ORDER IN CUMBRIA

In March 2021, Jarod Tasdelen, a 23-year-old man originally from Westbury, Wiltshire, found himself at the center of a serious legal breach after he deliberately violated a court-mandated Sexual Harm Prevention Order. His actions took place in North Cumbria, where he had recently relocated and secured employment at a local livery stable.

According to the proceedings at Carlisle Crown Court, Tasdelen’s past was marred by a series of grave child sex offences committed in 2016, which led to his incarceration. The charges included engaging in sexual activities with girls aged 12 and 14, and other related offences involving minors. After serving his sentence, he moved to Cumbria, where authorities had placed restrictions on his interactions with children, explicitly forbidding any contact unless the child's guardian was aware of his criminal history.

Despite these legal restrictions, Tasdelen engaged in a series of inappropriate interactions with a young woman and her nine-year-old sister. Prosecutor Brendan Burke detailed how Tasdelen, who was then living in Westbury, began exchanging flirtatious messages with the woman, who brought her younger sister to the stables where he worked. Court records indicate that he became overly attentive to the girls, offering assistance that went beyond normal help, including offering the older sister a job at the stables. During these interactions, Tasdelen concealed his true identity by providing a false name to the young woman.

Further troubling behavior was revealed when he offered to give riding lessons to the nine-year-old girl for free. Court documents state that he led the horse and even helped her put on her body protector on one occasion. During conversations, Tasdelen claimed to have slept with a 14-year-old girl but insisted he was 'set up.' He also suggested to the young woman that he had been expelled from a shared residence and proposed they run away to Scotland to start a farm together.

Concerned by his conduct, the young woman’s mother conducted inquiries and discovered that Tasdelen was using a false name. He later told police that he believed the older sister had informed their mother about his past, and he insisted he had no sexual interest in the nine-year-old girl.

During the court hearing, Paul Tweddle, representing Tasdelen, argued that his client’s actions in helping the girl with her riding were motivated by concern for her safety, fearing she might fall. However, the court found his behavior to be a clear breach of the court order, with the judge, Recorder Ciaran Rankin, describing the breach as deliberate and involving elements of targeting.

As a result, Tasdelen was sentenced to one year in prison, but the sentence was suspended for two years. The court also ordered him to complete 30 days of rehabilitation activities, perform 120 hours of unpaid community work, and adhere to a three-month curfew from 9 pm to 6 am.

It is noteworthy that when Tasdelen was 19, he faced a separate case at Swindon Crown Court, where he was charged with 16 counts of engaging in sexual activity with a child and four counts of causing a child to engage in a sex act. The victims in that case were three girls aged 12 and 14, highlighting a troubling pattern in his criminal history.
