DOMESTIC ABUSER PUT KNIFE AGAINST HIS PARTNER'S NECK WHILE SHE WAS PREGNANT

A domestic violence abuser put a knife against his pregnant partner's neck and, on other occasions, assaulted her.

Jan Laveckij's partner had disclosed on February 15 assaults at their home address.

She made a statement which covered numerous assaults from when she was four months pregnant and some later on, Nottingham Crown Court heard on Tuesday, October 19.

Threats to kill were made as a knife was held against her neck, the court was told.

On another occasion, he damaged a kitchen table by grabbing it and flipping it over.

The details were heard as 30-year-old Laveckij, of Freiston Street, Bobbers Mill, was sentenced for three offences of battery and making a threat to kill, all of which he pleaded guilty to.

He has been on remand at HMP Nottingham.

The court heard he had mental health issues at the time.

Judge James Sampson said the "nasty" threat to kill offence was in a domestic context and the offence involved the brandishing of a knife.

"I bear in mind the mental health issues raised," he said.

"You have had a significant period in custody now".

The judge imposed 18 months in prison for the threat to kill and four months concurrently on each battery offence, suspended for 21 months, with 25 rehabilitation activity days.

He must attend a "building better relationships programme", and he is subject to a restraining order for five years to stay away from the victim, who is now his ex-partner.
