JAMIE WALLER GOSPORT PAEDOPHILE BLACKMAILING GIRL AND SHARING CHILD PORNOGRAPHY
In July 2020, a disturbing case involving Jamie Waller, a resident of Gosport, came to light as he was sentenced to five years in prison for a series of heinous crimes related to child exploitation and abuse. The court heard how Waller, a 25-year-old man, had engaged in manipulative and predatory behavior targeting young girls, including a 13-year-old victim whom he blackmailed into sending explicit images.Waller’s criminal activities spanned several years, with police uncovering evidence that predated his first arrest. During a detailed investigation, authorities examined his mobile phones and discovered a trove of disturbing conversations dating back to 2017. These included explicit exchanges with a girl of the same age, as well as a staggering 864 indecent images of children, some depicting girls as young as five being raped by adult men. Such material highlighted the extent of Waller’s depravity and his ongoing involvement in child exploitation.
The court was told that Waller used threats and blackmail to coerce a 13-year-old girl into sending him sexual images. He warned her that if she did not comply, her images would be made public or shared with her mother. During these exchanges, Waller called her a “little slut” and even involved another paedophile, a 50-year-old man, in their online chats. At one point, he taunted her about her clothing, saying, “I bet your parents don’t know you have that thong.”
Prosecutor Charles Digby emphasized that Waller’s offending did not cease even after he was caught and given a suspended sentence in May 2019. In October of that year, Waller was caught communicating with an undercover police officer posing as a 13-year-old girl. During this interaction, he expressed his affection, stating he “loved” her and urged her to send “naughty pictures.” When the officer mentioned that she had been warned about such behavior at school, Waller dismissed it as “normal for people in love.”
Waller’s arrest took place on November 8, 2019, at his workplace in Southampton’s Dunelm store. The investigation revealed that he had shared explicit images on social media platforms and distributed them among other paedophiles. Court documents also detailed how Waller forced the teenage girl to call him “master” as she pleaded for him to leave her alone. The evidence indicated that Waller had engaged in similar explicit exchanges with an unidentified girl, further demonstrating his pattern of predatory behavior.
Judge Roger Hetherington described Waller as a “determined and manipulative paedophile,” citing his consistent pattern of offending since 2017. The judge noted that Waller used threats, blackmail, and social media to coerce young girls into filming acts that caused them fear, humiliation, and degradation. The court was told that Waller’s actions were designed not only to satisfy his own perverted interests but also to attract the attention of others within the wider paedophile community through chat sites.
In his sentencing, Waller pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including three counts of making indecent images, two counts of distributing such images, and two counts of inciting a girl to engage in sexual activity. He also admitted to attempting to communicate sexually with a child, incite sexual acts, and cause a child to view sexual images. Additionally, Waller breached his previous suspended sentence, further aggravating his case.
His criminal history includes an initial arrest on July 21, 2018, when authorities found a Category A indecent image depicting the rape of a child on his phone. Despite this, no immediate action was taken at that time. His subsequent arrest in April 2019 followed a sting operation by a paedophile hunter, which led to his suspended sentence in May of that year.
Given the severity of his crimes, Waller was deemed a high risk of causing serious harm to children. As part of his sentence, he was ordered to register as a sex offender for life and was subject to a lifelong sexual harm prevention order. The court confirmed that Waller did not attempt to meet any children in person, but his online activities and possession of child abuse images posed a significant threat to the safety and well-being of minors.
