JAMIE WALKER FROM STOKE JAILED FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT AT STOKE PRIDE FESTIVAL
In a disturbing incident that took place during the Stoke Pride event, Jamie Walker, a 28-year-old man with no fixed address, was convicted and sentenced for a serious sexual assault involving a 14-year-old boy. The assault occurred within the confines of a toilet cubicle at Hanley Park, an area that attracted a large crowd during the event held on June 16 of this year.According to reports, Walker followed the young teenager into the toilet facilities with apparent intent. However, the boy, demonstrating courage and quick thinking, resisted Walker’s advances and managed to escape from the situation. The boy then sought help from nearby neighbourhood police officers who were present at the event, and Walker was promptly arrested in connection with the incident.
Walker appeared before Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court, where he faced multiple charges related to his actions. After a thorough trial, he was found guilty of four serious offences: two counts of sexual activity with a child, one count of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, and one count of engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child. The court sentenced him to a total of three and a half years in prison.
Specifically, Walker received a sentence of 42 months for one count of sexual activity with a child, which was to run concurrently with a 36-month sentence for the second count. Additionally, he was sentenced to 18 months for inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, and 36 months for engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child. These latter two sentences were also to run concurrently with the other sentences, resulting in a combined prison term of three and a half years.
Beyond his imprisonment, Walker was ordered to be placed on the Sex Offenders Register for life, reflecting the severity of his crimes. Furthermore, upon his release from prison, he will be subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for a period of five years, which aims to restrict his activities and protect the community from potential harm. The case highlights the ongoing concerns about safeguarding minors at public events and the importance of swift law enforcement response to such incidents.
