JAMIE ROBINSON FROM DONCASTER AND THORNE SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL ASSAULTS ON TEENAGE GIRL

A 33-year-old ambulance worker named Jamie Robinson, residing on West Street in Thorne, Doncaster, has been sentenced to prison after being found guilty of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl. The incident, which took place in September 2019, involved Robinson persuading the young girl to visit his flat despite her clear distress and pleas for him to stop. The court heard that Robinson had initially bombarded her with inappropriate messages on social media, attempting to lure her into meeting him. Despite her protests and expressions of discomfort, Robinson's persistent and increasingly aggressive messages culminated in him personally picking her up near her home and taking her to his residence in Thorne, where the assault occurred.

She later contacted Childline to report the incident, which led to Robinson’s arrest and subsequent trial at Sheffield Crown Court. During the proceedings, it was revealed that Robinson had sent numerous messages trying to convince the girl to visit his flat, disregarding her repeated refusals. The victim’s testimony highlighted her emotional distress, as she cried and begged him to stop during the assault. The court was told that Robinson’s actions demonstrated a calculated breach of trust, exploiting his position as an emergency medical technician to manipulate the young girl.

Robinson was convicted on two counts of sexual assault and one count of assault by penetration. The judge, Mr Recorder Keir Monteith QC, sentenced him to a total of seven years and six months in prison. Additionally, he imposed a two-year and six-month sentence for the sexual assaults, with all sentences to run concurrently. The judge praised the victim for her bravery in coming forward and reporting the crime, emphasizing the importance of victims’ courage in seeking justice.

Following the sentencing, Detective Sergeant Coulter commented on the case, stating that the victim was left traumatised by the ordeal. He commended her resilience and urged other victims not to fear coming forward, assuring them that police are committed to supporting victims and pursuing justice. The case serves as a stark reminder of the dangers posed by individuals who abuse positions of trust and manipulate vulnerable young people for their own gratification.
