JAMIE MCRAE CAUSES SCANDAL IN PERTH AFTER LURING 15-YEAR-OLD FROM LINCOLNSHIRE FOR SEXUAL EXPLOITS
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community, Jamie McRae, a 23-year-old man from Perth, became the center of a nationwide investigation after he orchestrated a series of grooming and sexual offenses involving a 15-year-old girl from Lincolnshire. The incident began when McRae lured the young girl away from her home, prompting a search that spanned across the country to locate her.
The girl, whose identity is protected by law, was manipulated into making a 750-mile round trip from her residence in Lincolnshire to meet McRae in Perthshire.
During their interactions, McRae engaged in grooming behaviors, which included persuading her to pose for sexually explicit photographs.
Disturbingly, he also saved his contact information in her phone under the nickname “Daddy,” indicating a manipulative and controlling relationship.
The case took a further dark turn when it was revealed that McRae had also committed a sexual assault on a second girl, aged 14, just a few months after the initial incident.
This assault occurred in September 2020, adding to the gravity of his criminal record.
At Perth Sheriff Court, McRae pleaded guilty to multiple charges.
He admitted to engaging in sexual activity with the 15-year-old girl in Coupar Angus between March 12 and 15, 2020.
The court heard that he had sent her sexually explicit messages via social media platforms and had sexual intercourse with her on several occasions during that period.
Additionally, McRae confessed to sexually assaulting the 14-year-old girl at an address in Perth on September 2, 2020, where he pushed her onto a bed and kissed her face and neck.
During the court proceedings, fiscal depute Joanne Ritchie provided detailed accounts of the incidents.
She explained that the 15-year-old girl left her home in Lincolnshire in the early hours of March 13, 2020, traveling by train and bus to meet McRae without informing her mother or social workers.
Her disappearance prompted a missing persons report, but police quickly discovered communications between her and McRae, leading them to his Perth residence.
When police arrived, they found the girl at McRae’s property.
She reportedly expressed her desire to kiss him and share a bed with him, and both appeared to have love bite marks.
The girl told officers she did not want to live at home and preferred to stay with McRae, whom she referred to as her boyfriend.
She also confirmed that they had spent the weekend shopping, eating, and watching films together.
Further investigation revealed that McRae’s phone contained a screenshot of the girl’s social media profile, which clearly indicated her age as 15.
The girl admitted she had first met McRae when she was 14, and that he was fully aware of her age at the time.
The relationship was characterized by a pattern of manipulation and exploitation.
In the second incident, the 14-year-old girl described McRae as a friend and ‘like a big brother’ figure, whom she trusted for advice.
However, her perception changed after receiving a message from him asking her to meet up.
She was told she could walk into his home and close the door behind her.
When she went upstairs to meet him, he was sitting on his bed.
Feeling panicked and overwhelmed, she attempted to leave and return to school, experiencing a panic attack in the process.
Her concerns were reported to her school and police, leading to McRae’s arrest on September 17.
Sheriff Euan Duthie remanded McRae in custody for further reports, commenting that the case appeared to involve serious, imprisonable offenses.
The community and authorities continue to scrutinize the case, emphasizing the importance of protecting vulnerable minors from grooming and sexual exploitation.
