JAMIE CRAWSHAW FROM HUDDERSFIELD SENTENCED FOR SEX OFFENCES INVOLVING SCHOOLGIRL
In a case that has shocked the local community of Huddersfield, Jamie Crawshaw, a resident of Longroyd Bridge, was sentenced to three years in prison for serious sexual offences committed against a 15-year-old girl. The incident took place on April 8 of the previous year, and the details emerged during a hearing at Leeds Crown Court.
According to court reports, Crawshaw approached the young girl while she was in a public area.
He then sat beside her and, in a disturbing display of misconduct, exposed himself.
Following this, he indecently touched her, further violating her personal boundaries.
The situation escalated when Crawshaw convinced the girl to engage in sexual activity with him, an act she later disclosed to her mother.
The mother promptly contacted the authorities, leading to Crawshaw’s arrest.
During police interrogation, Crawshaw admitted to the allegations, acknowledging his inappropriate actions.
His defense attorney, Mohammed Nawaz, addressed the court, emphasizing that Crawshaw was genuinely remorseful.
Nawaz stated that his client was “thoroughly ashamed of his actions” and expressed hope that the probation service could assist him in rehabilitation.
The court was informed that Crawshaw, aged 26 and residing on Bankfield Road in Longroyd Bridge, had pleaded guilty to charges of sexual activity with a child and inciting a child to engage in sexual activity.
Judge Sally Cahill QC, presiding over the case, sentenced Crawshaw to three years in prison.
In her remarks, she highlighted the gravity of his misconduct, noting that he had exploited the vulnerability of a young girl.
“She was young and impressionable,” the judge remarked, underscoring the serious nature of the offences and the need for appropriate punishment to reflect the harm caused.
