MAN JAILED FOR ATTACKING PARTNER WITH LIGHTSABER AND THREATENING POLICE DURING ARMED SIEGE
A man named James Williamson, aged 25, has been convicted of attacking his partner with a lightsaber and threatening to behead firearms officers during an armed siege at their home in Perth. The court heard that on July 26, Williamson was involved in a violent incident where he repeatedly smashed his son's Star Wars weapon into his partner, Natalie Brennan's, legs.
He also assaulted her by pulling her hair, biting her neck and arm, causing her to have red and bite marks.
After the assault, Williamson left but then forced his way back into the house by smashing a kitchen window, cutting his arms and hands in the process.
When police arrived, Williamson refused to open the door, ran into the street, and was aggressive and blood-covered.
He then threatened to kill seven police officers using a large kitchen knife, a samurai sword, and a shotgun, stating he would use these weapons to attack officers.
The police temporarily deployed firearms officers due to concerns for the children's safety.
Williamson admitted to using the lightsaber and belt to injure his partner, biting her, breaking a window to re-enter her home, and threatening police with a knife.
His defense lawyer explained that Williamson was intoxicated after a day out drinking and was in a drunken rage.
The court sentenced him to two years in prison, recognizing he was fortunate to have avoided causing more severe injuries, with the victim managing to flee to safety during the incident.
