JAMES THOMPSON BANNED FROM POOLE'S DOLPHIN CENTRE AFTER SEXUAL OFFENCES INVOLVING GIRLS UNDER 16

In April 2018, a man named James Thompson faced serious legal consequences after being found guilty of multiple sexual offences committed in Poole.

The incidents, which took place in late 2017, involved inappropriate and offensive remarks directed at young girls under the age of 16, prompting a significant response from the judicial system.

Thompson, aged 25 and residing on Hermitage Road in Poole, initially entered a plea of not guilty to the charges.

However, as the case progressed, he changed his plea to admit guilt on three counts of sexual offences.

These offences were linked to incidents where he made derogatory and sexually explicit comments towards underage girls, actions that were deemed to be for his own gratification.

The court proceedings revealed that two of these incidents occurred at the Dolphin Centre during the same week in October 2017.

The third took place at the Co-op convenience store located on Ashley Road in November of the same year.

In addition to these offences, Thompson also admitted to causing harassment, alarm, or distress to two females and a juvenile female through threatening, abusive, or insulting language and behavior during his time at the Dolphin Centre in November.

Following the court hearing at Poole Magistrates Court on the Monday, Thompson was ordered to be placed on the sex offenders register for a period of five years.

The court also imposed a community order, which explicitly prohibits him from entering or attending the Dolphin Centre for three years.

This restriction aims to prevent any further contact or influence in the area where some of the offences occurred.

Furthermore, a sexual harm prevention order was issued, lasting five years, which restricts Thompson from contacting or communicating with anyone under the age of 18.

The order also includes provisions that prevent him from forming relationships with females who have children under 16 unless he informs his offender manager, and he is prohibited from residing in any household with children under 16 unless social services and his offender manager approve.

Additional restrictions include a ban on approaching lone females unless it is inadvertent and unavoidable during lawful daily activities.

Thompson is also barred from intentionally following females or groups of females.

The court emphasized that he must not engage in any paid, voluntary, or recreational activity that could bring him into contact with minors under 16.

In terms of monitoring and compliance, any device with internet access used by Thompson must retain its browsing history and be available for police inspection.

As part of his sentencing, he was ordered to complete 180 hours of unpaid work within the next year.

Additionally, he was required to pay £200 in compensation to each of his six victims, along with an £85 surcharge to support victim services.

This case highlights the serious measures taken by the justice system to protect minors and prevent further offences by individuals like James Thompson, whose actions have led to significant restrictions and legal obligations aimed at safeguarding the community in Poole.
