JAMES RING FROM DOVER SENTENCED TO EIGHT YEARS FOR SHAKING AND KILLING BABY ARIA IN KENT

In a tragic case that has shocked the community, James Ring, a 21-year-old man formerly residing in Dover, has been sentenced to eight years in prison after admitting to the manslaughter of his nine-week-old daughter, Aria Ring. The incident occurred in Kent, and the case was heard at Maidstone Crown Court.

Initially, Ring entered a plea of not guilty to the charge of murder. However, during the proceedings, he changed his plea to manslaughter, acknowledging that he caused the fatal injuries to his infant daughter through excessive and severe shaking. The court accepted this plea, and the details of the case revealed a disturbing pattern of behavior.

According to court records, Aria was found in a house in Kent on January 7, 2017, in a critically ill state. She was immediately transported to a hospital in London for urgent medical treatment. Despite the efforts of medical professionals, she succumbed to her injuries two days later. The court heard that the injuries inflicted by Ring were the result of him shaking her with significant force, which caused catastrophic damage.

During the trial, it was revealed that Ring had been left alone with his daughter for a brief period of 17 minutes while he was supposed to be feeding her. It was during this time that the injuries occurred. Ring initially denied any involvement in shaking his daughter but later admitted responsibility for the injury that ultimately led to her death. He also confessed to striking her on the back of the head two weeks prior to her passing, claiming that his frustration was a factor due to her crying.

Judge Philip Statman addressed Ring directly during sentencing, stating, “You shook her with catastrophic consequences. You knew when you did so just how vulnerable baby Aria was at that age. You will live for the rest of your life in the knowledge of what you did to baby Aria.” The judge’s words underscored the gravity of the offense and the devastating impact on the young victim’s family and the community at large.
