ANGUS MAN JAILED FOR BRUTAL PERTH HOTEL ROOM ASSAULT
A violent offender from Angus, James Mowatt has been sentenced for a brutal assault in a Perth hotel room where he placed his foot on his girlfriend's neck.
The incident occurred in June this year at Perth’s Queen’s Hotel, with Mowatt attacking the woman after she confronted him over text messages on his phone.
The assault involved pushing her to the ground, putting his foot on her neck and restricting her breathing, and behaving in a threatening manner.
Additionally, Mowatt breached a bail condition by approaching and communicating with the victim in Forfar and Kirriemuir on August 11.
Despite his legal history of violent crimes dating back to 1999, the court condemned the attack.
Sheriff Pino Di Emidio sentenced Mowatt to 18 months in prison for the assault and 95 days for breaching bail.
The judge highlighted Mowatt's record of six convictions for assault, emphasizing that his past violence was a significant factor in the sentencing.
