Aug 2010 Sex offender caught with kitchen knife A CONVICTED sex offender has been fined after being caught carrying a knife. James Mockford, of High Brooms Road, was stopped by police in Grosvenor Road on March 2, Sevenoaks Magistrates’ Court heard. The 22-year-old admitted the charge, as well as committing a further offence while subject to a conditional discharge and failing to notify to the courts of a change of address. The court heard how Mockford was stopped by police at around 9pm. The police found the kitchen knife in his jacket pocket and he was subsequently arrested. Defending, Matthew Nickolls said: “The fact that he had the knife to self harm suggests he still needs support. He has an alcohol addiction and knows what is going to be expected of him. He wants to improve his situation.” Mockford was convicted of sexual activity with a 14-year-old in August last year and was put on the sex offenders’ register for two years. Magistrates ordered he undergo a 12-month supervision order and pay £100 costs.
