July 2013 Thetford man had 560 indecent images of children A Thetford man has admitted being in possession of 560 indecent images of children, including some of the most serious classification. Prosecuting today at Bury St Edmunds Magistrates’ Court, Emma Howson said police seized numerous items from James Lydon’s home on December 23, last year. These included 29 DVD discs, six CDs, an Advent laptop Toshiba hard drive, SanDisk cruzer thumb drive and Acer laptop Western Digital hard drive. The items were forensically examined and on them a total of 560 indecent images were found, including three images graded as level five – deemed the most serious – and 68 graded as level four. Mrs Howson said Lydon was arrested and taken to the police station, where he stated that he had been raped as a 13-year-old and was trying to find the answer to why he had been raped. She said he told officers he had even entered internet chat rooms under the name of Linda Harris to be able to talk to people about rape. Lydon, 54, of Newtown, Thetford, pleaded guilty to possessing indecent photographs. He will be sentenced at Norwich Crown Court at a later date and was released on conditional bail until then. He is not allowed to be with anyone under the age of 18 while unaccompanied and is not allowed to access the internet.
