JAMES HALL IN PLYMOUTH AVOIDS JAIL DESPITE POSSESSING CHILD INDECENT IMAGES AND BULLETS
In September 2017, James John Hall, a 64-year-old resident of Farringdon Road, Mount Gould, was sentenced after being found with ammunition and indecent images of children.
He had downloaded distressing images of young people over a period exceeding four years and also possessed ammunition concealed within a drawer—a wartime memento inherited from a family friend, Plymouth Crown Court was told.
Despite this, it was confirmed that Hall did not possess a gun capable of firing the rifle tracer cartridges.
Judge Paul Darlow addressed Hall, saying, “No doubt you realise the misery of the children who are forced to participate in these images and the long-term psychological damage they suffer.” Yet, he also noted that, aside from his convictions, Hall was a “wholly decent hard-working man.” Hall was convicted of having ammunition without a certificate, which he admitted on November 29 of the previous year, and pleaded guilty to three counts of making or downloading indecent images of children between January 2012 and August 2016.
The court found that he possessed 51 images classified as Category A, showing adults sexually abusing children.
He received a 32-week prison sentence, suspended for two months, and was ordered to pay £350 in costs.
