April 2022 Bradford Crown Court case hears of discovery of sickening child abuse images A convicted child rapist is back behind bars after he told police during a search of his home: ”I can’t help myself”. Back in 2011 James Green was jailed for five years at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court for raping a girl under 13 and in 2019 the same court locked him up for ten months for downloading indecent images of children. As part of that latest sentence he was also made subject of a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order which banned him from having unauthorised devices which could access the internet. But Bradford Crown Court heard yesterday that West Yorkshire police officers were alerted in April last year to the downloading of sickening child abuse images and videos and their inquiries led to Green being arrested in August. When his mobile phone was examined officers found more than 250 movie and still images in the worst category involving the sexual abuse of children under five years old. About a fortnight later police officers made another check on Green at his home in Croft Place, Brighouse, and when they asked about any more phones he replied:”I’ve got another one. There’s things on it. I can’t help myself.” This time officers found a Samsung mobile phone hidden under his mattress and there were a small number of indecent images on the device. Green, 32, was released on police bail, but when a further monitoring check was carried out in October he had obtained another mobile phone without informing the public protection unit and it was found hidden in a plant pot. Green pleaded guilty to a series of offences relating to his downloading of indecent images of children and persistent breaches of his SHPO and the Recorder of Bradford Judge Richard Mansell QC jailed him again for a total of 24 months. The judge said his offending was aggravated by his previous convictions and he had committed serious and persistent breaches of the order. Green will now have to register as a sex offender with the police for the next ten years and he is still subject to the existing  June 2020 Convicted child rapist re-offends A convicted rapist using the online name ‘Daddy’ has been jailed after he was caught with hundreds of child abuse images. Pervert James Green – who was convicted of rape and sexual assault of a child in 2011 – was arrested by police last March and officers discovered sickening photos of youngsters on his phone. The 30-year-old was arrested for a second time in June and his phone was found to have more disturbing pictures. Now Green – who was described as ‘dangerous’ – has been jailed for 10 months at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court. Prosecutor Thomas Kenning said the police recovered the defendant’s mobile phones after arresting him on two occasions last year. They found 137 still and moving images at category A – the most serious; 159 at category B and 344 at category C. Mr Kenning said: “He was using a chat system called Emerald. He put Daddy as part of his user name. In his interview he accepted that was to entice or indicate he was willing to receive images from children. “He accepted he had been chatting to people he believed to be under 16.” Green, now of Crossley Terrace South, Halifax, pleaded guilty to three offences of making indecent images of children and failing to comply with the notification requirements of the sex offenders’ register. Stephen Lee, mitigating, said the defendant had fallen out with a very close friend which caused him to fall into a depressive state. Mr Lee said: “He used the images to relieve his depressive state. He knows it was wrong. He wants to do everything in his power to address his offending behaviour and stop his sexual offending. “He does appear to have shown remorse. He tells me he has also taken steps to address his offending behaviour. He has not committed any further offences since his arrest in June.” Judge Paul Glenn said: “The police had recovered your phone. An officer noticed files which were of concern. You accept engaging in a chat site using a user name which was particularly unpleasant. You had not told police of that user name as you were required to under the notification requirements. “The phone was found to contain indecent images of children. “The second phone was seized on your arrest on June 17. You plainly had simply got yourself another phone and carried on with the same actions. “The images were across all three categories and included young girls engaging in penetrative activity. “When interviewed you accepted you had sexual conversations with children on a chat site and accepted sending images to and receiving images from children under 16. “You had chosen your user name because it grabs attention, that was how you put it. And you knew notifying the user name to the police would lead to you being detected. “In 2011 the court decided you were a dangerous offender. In my view that remains the case. “These matters are so serious I can only impose an immediate custodial sentence. It was real children being abused here.” The defendant remains on the sex offenders’ register for life and was made the subject of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for 10 years.
