Martin Thorley, aged 45 and living on Broomville Avenue in Sale, Greater Manchester, has been found guilty of five charges related to historic child sexual abuse.
Authorities reported that Thorley began abusing his victim when she was only four years old, and the misconduct persisted for around seven years.
The abuse started when Thorley was a teenager and involved him removing the girl from others beforehand.
Police described Thorley's conduct as heinous, noting that he exploited a young girl for his own sexual pleasure.
He was sentenced at Manchester Crown Court to serve 17 years behind bars.
Detective Constable Dawn Berry, a police spokesperson, highlighted the severe consequences such abuse inflicts, saying, “This type of abuse profoundly affects victims, tainting their childhoods and causing persistent mental trauma.” She also condemned Thorley as a manipulative paedophile who used the young girl for his own ends, calling his actions utterly deplorable.
A clarification issued on 7 December 2021 stated that Thorley denied the initial allegations but was ultimately convicted after a trial of five counts of child sex offences.
