JAMES FORD SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL ASSAULTS IN ANDOVER

In a recent case that has shocked the community of Andover, James Michael Ford, aged 33 and residing on Dines Close, was formally sentenced to a prison term of two years for a series of disturbing sexual offenses committed within the town. The incidents, which took place over a single day in June, involved the assault and inappropriate exposure of four different victims, including two teenage girls, highlighting a troubling pattern of predatory behavior.

Ford appeared before Winchester Crown Court on Thursday, 27 July, where he faced the consequences of his actions. During the hearing, he pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including two counts of sexual assault, two counts of indecent exposure, and a breach of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order. The court also imposed a seven-year restraining order for each of the victims, aiming to prevent any future contact or harassment. Additionally, Ford’s Sexual Harm Prevention Order was amended to include further restrictions, underscoring the seriousness of his offenses.

The series of events unfolded on 23 June, beginning around 1 pm. A 29-year-old woman was walking along Anton Lane when she encountered Ford cycling past her. Without warning, Ford dismounted from his bicycle, pulled down his trousers, and began touching himself inappropriately in front of her, an act that left her understandably distressed.

Later that same day, Ford was seen cycling past a 17-year-old girl at the junction of Colonzo Drive and Vigo Road, where he committed a sexual assault. The details of this assault have been documented as part of the police investigation. Around 2:45 pm, a 23-year-old woman reported seeing a man masturbating in some bushes on Picket Twenty, which was later linked to Ford’s activities.

Adding to the disturbing pattern, a 14-year-old girl was also assaulted by Ford on the same day. At approximately 4 pm, she was walking along Anton Lane Path when Ford cycled past her and committed a sexual assault, further demonstrating his predatory behavior.

Following a thorough police investigation, officers executed a search at Ford’s residence on 24 June. During the search, they seized a bicycle that matched the description provided by the victims, which helped establish a link between Ford and the crimes. Ford was subsequently arrested at his home, and the evidence collected played a crucial role in securing his guilty plea and subsequent sentencing.
