March 2014: Now living in Edgcumbe Avenue, Newquay April 2011 Shocking animal and child abuse images discovered EXTREME animal and child abuse images was discovered on a Shortlanesend man’s laptop after he called a chat line and conspired to make indecent images of children. Officers seized a computer from James Fitt, aged 31, of Eglos Road, Shortlanesend, after Cambridgeshire police traced him through his mobile phone, and at Truro Crown Court on Friday he admitted two charges of possessing pornographic images involving adults with animals, and five charges of making indecent images of children. The offences took place in August. Ron Ede, for the prosecution, said Fitt used his mobile to communicate with others about making images involving children, and to be involved in a business called Barefeet Productions. When arrested he claimed this was a fantasy, he had never met any of the people he contacted and his interest was in girls aged 13 to 18. Advised by Curtis Lewis, for the defence, that Fitt had made immediate admissions, was trying to deal with his offending by contacting counsellors and was co-operating fully with a probation officer, Judge Christopher Elwen agreed to suspend his 40-week jail term for two years. Judge Elwen referred to Fitt’s admission that for years he had fantasies about feet, but said he was of previously unblemished character and that, together with the very sensible steps he was taking to seek help and guidance, was very much to his credit. “Without treatment there is a serious risk of repetition of offending of this nature and the public is better served by managing the risk rather than you rotting in Exeter jail for a time,” he said. Fitt will be under supervision for two years, must undergo the Thames Valley Sex Offender Programme and pay £600 towards the prosecution costs.
