JAMES DEVINE FROM WORCESTER SENTENCED FOR CHILD ABUSE IMAGES IN SHOCKING CASE
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Worcester, James Devine, a 51-year-old man, was found to possess thousands of indecent images of children.The investigation into Devine’s computer revealed that the images were stored in a hidden, inaccessible part of the device, making it difficult for his family to discover their presence.
The case came to light after Devine’s wife, who had recently initiated divorce proceedings, reported her concerns to the police.
Following her complaint, authorities seized Devine’s computer and launched an investigation into the matter.
The images found on his device were described by Judge Robert Juckes QC as the “worst and most disturbing kind,” highlighting the severity of the material involved.
During the court proceedings at Winchester Crown Court, Devine admitted to creating indecent images of children.
Prosecutor Paul Cook explained that the images were stored in a part of the computer that was not easily accessible, which may have been an attempt to conceal the material.
The police interview with Devine took place on July 10, 2015, during which he claimed he was not the only person with access to the seized devices.
As part of the investigation, police also interviewed his family members, including his wife and three children.
When questioned, Devine provided the names of his wife and children but declined to comment further.
His refusal to cooperate did not prevent the court from proceeding with sentencing.
Judge Juckes emphasized that instead of accepting responsibility for his actions, Devine attempted to shift blame onto his family members, implying they might have been responsible for the images.
As a result of his conviction, Devine was sentenced to just under two years in prison.
Additionally, he was ordered to sign the Sex Offender’s Register for a period of ten years, a ban was placed on any contact with his wife and children, and he was required to pay a victim surcharge of £120.
The case has raised serious concerns about the safety and well-being of children and highlights the importance of vigilance in protecting vulnerable individuals from exploitation and abuse.
