DRUNK MAN ATTACKED HIS PARTNER AFTER SHE TOLD HIM TO SLEEP IT OFF IN HIS CAR
An alcoholic barged into his home in the middle of the night after being locked out and assaulted his partner.
The victim had barricaded the door to stop James Coard from getting inside and managed to dial 999, with attacks heard by a police call handler.
Coard, 29, has a history of violence, including a previous conviction for assaulting the same victim in 2015 and involvement in an incident at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary in early 2018 when suffering from alcohol withdrawal.
During the latest incident, he pushed his partner, causing her to fall into the bathroom wall, and threatened her with violence.
Police attended, and Coard was arrested and later remanded in custody.
He faces sentencing on September 6 after an assessment for alcohol treatment.
Coard must reside in Sowerby Bridge and refrain from contacting his partner or attending his family home until then.
