In a disturbing and highly controversial event, two convicted sex offenders, James Clelland and Donald Main, tied the knot within the confines of a prison located in Clackmannanshire, with the ceremony taking place in a visitors’ room that was decorated with flowers sourced from the prison grounds. The marriage, which occurred on a Monday, has sparked outrage among authorities and the public alike, given the heinous nature of their crimes and the circumstances surrounding their union.

James Clelland, aged 40, and Donald Main, aged 30, reportedly exchanged vows in a setting that was far from typical, with close family members and friends present to witness the event. The attendees partook in a modest finger buffet and took photographs to commemorate the occasion. The prison officials at Glenochil, where the ceremony was held, have come under heavy criticism for permitting such an event to take place within the prison walls, especially considering that it was held in the very location where the two men met and where they are serving their sentences for child sex offences.

Sources close to the situation described the event as a disgrace, emphasizing that the marriage was inappropriate and that the two individuals involved are equally depraved. An insider revealed, “It’s a disgrace they were allowed to wed. These two are as depraved as each other. After the ceremony, Clelland and Main spent a few hours together with their families, taking pictures and celebrating their union.

All visitors attending the event were subjected to searches before being allowed entry into the prison, highlighting the security measures in place. James Clelland’s criminal history is particularly disturbing; he was sentenced to seven years in prison in 2006 after a decade of abusing three children. His crimes came to light after teachers caught him attempting to lure a young girl away from a school in Lanarkshire in 2005. During his sentencing, Lord Philip described Clelland’s crimes as “extremely serious,” noting that they were carried out systematically and persistently. Clelland, a father of two, was previously married to a woman and was released from Alloa jail in 2016.

Donald Main, originally from Elgin, was given a life sentence in 2013 after he made contact with boys aged between ten and sixteen, whom he did not know. The High Court in Edinburgh, presided over by Lord Uist, described Main as “an incorrigible sex offender and a serious danger to the public.” Main’s criminal record also includes a 40-month sentence for abducting a 12-year-old boy, as well as a 12-month detention in 2007 for breaching a probation order through indecent contact with boys aged 11 to 13. It is mandated that Main will remain under supervision for the rest of his life, reflecting the severity of his offenses and the ongoing risk he poses to society.
