JAMES BELL FROM EAST KILBRIDE CONVICTED IN SHOCKING CHILD ABUSE CASE

In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of East Kilbride, a nine-year-old girl was subjected to heinous acts by a 27-year-old man named James Bell. The abuse included forcing the young girl to pose for indecent photographs in a back garden, an act that has left a lasting scar on her and her family.

Further compounding the severity of the case, Bell engaged in unlawful sexual intercourse with the girl, an act that has brought him before the courts on serious charges. The disturbing nature of his actions was uncovered when Bell's wife discovered three photographs of the girl, taken without her consent, hidden beneath their bedroom mattress. This discovery prompted her to contact the police, leading to Bell's immediate arrest.

Bell appeared before Hamilton Sheriff Court to face the charges. During the proceedings, he pled guilty to multiple offenses, including using lewd, indecent, and libidinous practices towards the young girl. Specifically, he admitted to taking photographs of her naked body and engaging in unlawful sexual intercourse. The court heard that Bell's actions were deliberate and carried out over a period of time, causing significant distress and harm to the victim.

In his defense, Bell's legal representatives argued that he had recognized his unnatural urges and had sought help by visiting a psychiatric unit at the Victoria Infirmary.
