July 2013 Jailed paedophile has sentence extended after second conviction for abusing girl of six A paedophile who is currently serving a nine year jail term for child sex offences has been jailed for a further 40 months for sexually abusing a six year old girl. James Bean had been staying at a house in Ipswich more than a decade ago when he indecently assaulted the child on two consecutive days, Ipswich Crown Court heard. Bean, 51, whose address was given as HMP Hull admitted two offences of indecent assault. Judge John Devaux said Bean had been jailed in 1988 for two years for four offences of indecent assault on a girl and in July last year he was jailed for nine years for offences of rape, gross indecency with a child and indecent assault on a female. Judge Devaux ordered that the 40 month jail term should run consecutively to the nine year sentence he was currently serving. Robert Sadd, prosecuting, said the victim of the current offences was six or seven at the time she was sexually assaulted by Bean. She had been staying at a relative’s house with her younger sister and Bean had also been staying at the premises. As a result of the sisters messing around the victim of the offences was sent to sleep in the same room as Bean and the sexual assaults had taken place that night and again the following day. When Bean was questioned about the allegations he admitted taking advantage of the girl. Bean, who was not legally represented, apologised to the court for what he had done and said he had co-operated with the police.
