JAMES BEAN'S SHOCKING CRIMES IN IPSWICH: PAEDOPHILE'S SENTENCE EXTENDED AFTER SECOND CONVICTION
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Ipswich, James Bean, a man with a long history of sexual offenses against children, has seen his prison sentence significantly extended following a second conviction for abusing a young girl.Bean, who is currently serving a nine-year sentence for previous child sex offenses, was brought back before Ipswich Crown Court to face additional charges related to the abuse of a six-year-old girl.
The court heard that the offenses took place more than a decade ago, during a period when Bean was residing at a house in Ipswich.
Over the course of two consecutive days, he indecently assaulted the young girl, an incident that has now come to light through court proceedings.
The victim, who was only six years old at the time, was staying at her relative’s house along with her younger sister.
During this period, Bean was also present at the same residence.
According to the prosecution, the young girl was subjected to sexual abuse after she and her sister had been playing around.
As a consequence of their behavior, the girl was sent to sleep in the same room as Bean.
It was during this night and the following day that the assaults occurred.
The court was informed that the girl was approximately six or seven years old at the time of the abuse.
James Bean, now aged 51, admitted to two counts of indecent assault during the proceedings.
His address was listed as HMP Hull, indicating he was in custody at the time of the trial.
When questioned about the allegations, Bean did not have legal representation and chose to admit to the offenses.
He expressed remorse, apologizing to the court for his actions and stating that he had cooperated fully with police investigations.
Judge John Devaux, presiding over the case, highlighted Bean’s criminal history, which includes a previous conviction in 1988 for four counts of indecent assault on a girl, resulting in a two-year prison sentence.
More recently, in July of the previous year, Bean was sentenced to nine years for a series of serious offenses, including rape, gross indecency with a child, and indecent assault on a female.
In light of these circumstances, Judge Devaux ordered that the new 40-month sentence for the recent offenses should run consecutively to the existing nine-year term.
This means that Bean’s overall time behind bars will be extended, reflecting the gravity of his repeated offenses against vulnerable children.
The court’s decision underscores the seriousness with which such crimes are treated and the ongoing efforts to protect children from predators like James Bean.
