SALISBURY MAN JAMES BATES MADE INDECENT IMAGES OF CHILDREN
A SALISBURY man who made more than 100 indecent images and videos of children has been handed a community order.James Bates, 35, of Devizes Road, was sentenced at Winchester Crown Court on August 26 after pleading guilty to three offences.
The court was told he made the indecent content in Amesbury between January 18, 2024 and March 25, 2024.
Thirty-two of the images and videos were Category A – the most serious type.
A further 33 were Category B, and 63 were Category C.
Bates could not enter pleas at his first magistrates' court appearance for ‘technical reasons’.
He admitted his offending in the crown court.
A judge sentenced Bates to an 18-month community order.
Bates must complete 120 hours of unpaid work, 20 rehabilitation activity days and a 26-day accredited programme.
He was made subject to a five-year sexual harm prevention order.
He will be on the sex offenders' register for the same period of time.
He was ordered to pay £705 in prosecution costs and a £114 victim surcharge.
