LOCHGELLY MAN JAMES ALLAN CAUGHT WITH CHILD ABUSE IMAGES IN KIRKCALDY

James Allan, a former janitor from Lochgelly, was brought before Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court to face serious allegations related to the possession of indecent images of children. The 60-year-old, who previously worked at Lochgelly High School, was found guilty of possessing a total of 30 such images, a revelation that has shocked the local community and raised concerns about safety and trust within educational environments.

Allan's arrest followed a police investigation that was initiated after authorities received intelligence suggesting that a computer located at his former residence in Lochgelly was being used to access and download disturbing material online. The police acted swiftly, executing a search warrant on August 31, which led to the discovery of the illicit images stored on his device. Among the material was a particularly disturbing image that Allan had edited himself, which involved superimposing the face of a young girl, a friend’s daughter, onto the body of an adult female. This act of manipulation underscored the disturbing nature of the content he was involved with.

During the court proceedings, Allan maintained a subdued demeanor, often staring at the floor as he faced the charges. His admission to possessing the images was a key part of the case, and he expressed remorse for his actions. Allan explained that the court case had caused a significant rift within his family, leading to his estrangement from loved ones. His defence solicitor, Chris Sneddon, provided context to the court, stating, “He has been effectively cut off from his entire family and is staying in temporary accommodation. A family conference was held and it was decided that he was required to leave his home and is therefore estranged from his wife.”

As part of his sentencing, Allan was ordered to complete 200 hours of unpaid community service. The court’s decision reflects the seriousness with which such offenses are regarded, emphasizing the importance of safeguarding children and the community from individuals involved in such disturbing activities.
