JADE HATT FROM SWINDON ESCAPES PRISON AFTER SEXUAL OFFENSE INVOLVING 11-YEAR-OLD BOY
In October 2015, a disturbing case involving Jade Hatt, a 20-year-old woman from Swindon, came to light when she was convicted of engaging in sexual activity with an 11-year-old boy under her care.The incident occurred during a daytime babysitting session, which was supposed to be a routine duty.
Instead, it turned into a serious criminal offense that shocked the local community and prompted a court hearing.
According to court reports, Jade Hatt was responsible for looking after the young boy on a day when he was not in school.
The babysitting arrangement was not unusual, as she had been asked to care for the child on multiple occasions, reportedly around six or seven times.
However, during this particular day, the situation took a disturbing turn.
Hatt arrived at the boy’s residence around 11:30 a.m., and what followed was described as a highly inappropriate and illegal act.
Prosecutor Hannah Squire provided details of the incident to Swindon Crown Court, stating, “The defendant was friends with the boy’s father, with whom she had a brief sexual relationship.
He would ask her to babysit; she had babysat his 11-year-old son on six or seven occasions.
On one of those occasions, this offense took place.” She further explained that during the babysitting session, the young boy was lying down when Hatt sat on top of him, astride his body.
She then removed her clothes and also took off his.
The court heard that Hatt began bouncing on the boy’s private parts, leading to sexual intercourse.
The act was described as brief, lasting approximately 45 seconds.
The boy later told authorities that he felt it was wrong and that Hatt had expressed enjoyment of the act, which he did not share.
Evidence also revealed that the boy’s father noticed a love bite on his son’s neck and observed that text messages from Hatt had been diverted to his phone, indicating her involvement in the incident.
When police were called and Hatt was arrested, she initially claimed that the boy had told her he was 15, despite knowing his actual age, as her own information was provided by the boy’s father.
Hatt, who resides on Rolleston Street, pleaded guilty to charges of sexual activity with a child.
During sentencing, Judge Tim Mousley QC acknowledged the exceptional nature of the case, which allowed him to deviate from standard sentencing guidelines.
The judge remarked, “Having read everything before me, it was quite clear he was a mature 11-year-old and you were an immature 20-year-old so that narrows the arithmetic age gap between you.
I have also read what the boy’s father said about the effect on the victim.” As a result, Hatt was sentenced to six months in prison, suspended for two years, with conditions including supervision.
Additionally, she was ordered to register as a sex offender for seven years and was subject to a sexual harm prevention order that prohibits her from having unsupervised contact with young boys for two years.
The court’s decision reflects the serious nature of the offense and the importance of safeguarding children from such violations, even as the offender avoids immediate imprisonment.
