JACOB DALLIMORE FROM NEWPORT SENTENCED FOR RAPE UNDER M4 MOTORWAY
In May 2022, a disturbing incident unfolded in Newport involving a teenage girl who was subjected to a heinous assault on waste ground located beneath the M4 motorway.The perpetrator, Jacob Dallimore, aged 19 and a resident of Newport, was found guilty of raping the 13-year-old girl after a series of events that highlighted a grave breach of trust and a disturbing abuse of power.
According to court proceedings, Dallimore had initially given the young girl Xanax tablets earlier that day.
Xanax, a potent tranquilizer, acts swiftly by depressing the central nervous system, often inducing feelings of calmness and reducing anxiety.
However, in this case, the drug's effects rendered the girl drowsy and nearly insensible, which the court described as making her highly vulnerable to exploitation.
The court was informed that Dallimore took advantage of her compromised state.
The victim, who was only 13 years old, was under the influence of the drug to the extent that she was described as being in a stupor.
The judge, Judge Richard Williams, emphasized that this state of drowsiness significantly increased her susceptibility to harm.
The assault occurred on waste ground beneath the M4 viaduct in Newport, a location often associated with less visibility and safety, which the court noted as a factor in the vulnerability of the victim.
During the trial at Cardiff Crown Court, the jury convicted Dallimore of the crime of rape in February.
He had initially denied the allegations, which compelled the young girl to give evidence in court—a process that was undoubtedly traumatic for her.
The prosecution, led by Clare Wilks, presented a victim impact statement in which the girl expressed the lasting emotional scars caused by the assault.
She stated, “What has happened to me will stick with me for the rest of my life.
I am proud I was able to speak out but it has come at a price.” It was revealed that Dallimore had no prior convictions before this offence.
However, subsequent to the incident, he accumulated convictions for public disorder and possession of an offensive weapon, indicating a pattern of concerning behavior.
Judge Williams addressed Dallimore directly during sentencing, stating, “On the morning of the offence, you provided Xanax to her, which she then took.
It is clear that this had a significant effect on her, making her drowsy to the point of insensibility or stupor.
In my judgment, this made her particularly vulnerable.
You took full advantage of her condition later to isolate her before raping her on that waste ground under the M4 viaduct in Newport.
She made it clear to you that she didn’t want to have sex, but she was effectively defenseless at that time.” As a result of his conviction, Dallimore was sentenced to five years in a young offender institution.
Additionally, he was ordered to register as a sex offender indefinitely.
The court also stipulated that he would serve half of his sentence in custody before being released on licence, with the remaining time on remand counting towards his sentence.
The judge concluded his remarks by expressing admiration for the victim’s bravery, stating, “I wish to express my admiration for such a brave person.”
