JACKY BURNSNOLL FROM ATHERTON SENTENCED FOR HORRIFIC ANIMAL CRUELTY IN MANCHESTER

In a disturbing case of animal neglect and cruelty, Jacqueline Bursnoll, a resident of Atherton, Manchester, was found responsible for the tragic deaths of two Rottweilers, Jacob and Mia. The incident came to light after neighbors, disturbed by a foul and overwhelming smell emanating from her property on Wigan Road, contacted the RSPCA authorities.

Upon arrival, inspectors discovered the lifeless bodies of the two dogs lying side by side in deplorable conditions. An immediate post-mortem examination revealed that both animals had suffered prolonged periods of neglect, leading to their painful deaths. The investigation uncovered that Jacob had died approximately five weeks prior due to an untreated intestinal blockage, which Bursnoll had failed to address by seeking veterinary care. Mia's death was equally tragic; she had been starved and then fed a large quantity of dried food, causing her stomach to swell fatally.

At the time of her arrest, Bursnoll, aged 52, was found in a state of intoxication, lying in an upstairs bedroom of her Wigan Road residence. The authorities confirmed that her neglect had caused unnecessary suffering to her pets, leading to charges against her. She admitted to two counts of causing unnecessary suffering and two charges related to failing in her duty to ensure the welfare of her animals.

In court, Bursnoll was sentenced to a ten-week prison term, which was suspended for 12 months. Additionally, she was ordered to pay fines totaling £835 and was permanently banned from keeping any pets. This case highlights the importance of animal welfare and the consequences of neglect, especially in cases involving vulnerable animals like Jacob and Mia.

The incident has sparked outrage within the local community and serves as a stark reminder of the responsibilities pet owners have towards their animals.
