CHANNEL 4 STAR JAILED FOR BRUTAL DOMESTIC ASSAULT

THE star of a Channel 4 reality TV show has been sentenced to two and a half years in prison for physically assaulting his former girlfriend. Jack Woodman, known for appearing on Channel 4’s Bodyshockers, was found guilty of brutally attacking his girlfriend Crystal Taff during their tumultuous five-year relationship. The court heard that Woodman, a heavily tattooed man, assaulted Crystal on three separate occasions, including punching her in the face which broke her jaw, pulling out a clump of her hair, and threatening to burn her with hair straighteners. In one incident described in court, Crystal was punched in the face and told by Woodman, 'If you don’t shut up I’ll make sure I knock the other teeth out.' Crystal, who gave birth last month to a baby girl, bravely testified in court amidst her pregnancy about the abuse. She recounted a specific attack where Woodman punched her, breaking her jaw, which required surgery at Bristol Dental Hospital. Despite her injuries and pain, Crystal continued working at the pawnshop, hiding her injuries from others, and only sought medical attention after her condition worsened. Woodman, aged 33, denied grievous bodily harm and two counts of actual bodily harm, but the jury convicted him after just two hours. Throughout the trial, Woodman’s lies were exposed, and the judge sentenced him to two and a half years in prison. Crystal’s stepdad expressed relief at the sentence, stating, “This was the sentence the family needed for the pain and torment Woodman has put Crystal through. Woodman has now got what he always craved – fame. But that fame has come at a massive price.” The court also heard that Woodman had previously featured on Channel 4's Bodyshockers and appeared on BBC’s Young, Dumb and Living Off Mums. His violence was not limited to physical assault; during the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee weekend, Crystal claimed Woodman assaulted her in a car, pulled her hair, and threatened to burn her with straighteners again. The jury saw through Woodman’s dishonesty and swiftly convicted him for the assaults, which included breaking her jaw and threatening her with dangerous objects. The court emphasized that domestic abuse can take many forms, including emotional, verbal, and physical violence.
