JACK WILLIAM QUINN SENTENCED IN PEMBROKESHIRE FOR DAMAGING ONLINE CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE MATERIAL

Jack William Quinn, of Pembrokeshire, was involved in online groups that used an encrypted application to share images of child sexual abuse.

Court proceedings revealed that he participated in a group run by a chef where members exchanged and commented on such disturbing images.

Some of the videos and pictures downloaded by Quinn depicted babies being sexually abused.

The court heard that he was part of multiple groups and served as an administrator for one, where vile content was shared.

On the morning of November 20 last year, police executed a search warrant at Quinn's residence in Pembrokeshire.

Present at the scene were Quinn, his partner, and their young child.

Prosecutor James Hartson stated that authorities seized an Acer laptop and a Samsung mobile phone.

A preliminary review of these devices indicated the presence of indecent images.

Quinn was taken into custody and brought to Aberystwyth police station, where he admitted to accessing adult pornography, claiming any indecent images found could have been downloaded accidentally.

Forensic analysis of his devices uncovered hundreds of pictures and videos depicting the sexual abuse of babies and children, categorized as Category A (the most severe), B, and C.

An additional 59,000 images were classified as un-categorized.

Investigators also found numerous encrypted conversations on a secure messaging app—whose name was withheld due to ongoing investigations—that facilitated anonymous exchanges of messages and images.

Quinn had two accounts on this app, one of which was held under the identity of a 17-year-old girl.

Evidence showed that he was an administrator and an active participant in one of the online groups, often initiating the sharing and trading of illicit content.

Quinn, 29, now of Priory Street, Cardigan, Ceredigion, pleaded guilty to three counts of possession of indecent images—Categories A, B, and C—and three counts of distribution of such images.

He had no prior criminal convictions.

Ian Ibrahim, defending Quinn, explained that following his arrest, the defendant sought help from an alcohol charity, reducing his daily beer intake from 15 pints to six or eight.

Ibrahim emphasized Quinn's remorse, noting his shame over his actions and their impact on his family.

The lawyer also highlighted that Quinn had lost his career as a chef and described him as "a broken man." Recorder Christopher Clee QC sentenced Quinn to 32 months in prison, with the first half to be served in custody.

Upon release on licence, he will serve the remainder in the community.

Quinn will also be registered as a sex offender for life and was issued a sexual harm prevention order to regulate his internet use.
