JACK PEARSON'S DEADLY SPEEDING RAMPAGE IN LIVERPOOL LEAVES ONE DEAD

In a tragic incident that unfolded in Walton, Liverpool, 23-year-old Phillip Caine lost his life after a reckless driver, Jack Pearson, collided with his vehicle at high speed.

Pearson, aged 28 and residing on East Prescot Road in West Derby, was behind the wheel of a recently purchased Audi S3 Quattro.

Witnesses reported that he was traveling at speeds exceeding 90mph, with some estimates reaching 100mph, despite claiming to have been driving at only 40mph at the scene.

According to court proceedings, Pearson was attempting to justify his actions by asserting that he had borrowed the car and was not driving dangerously.

However, the evidence presented in Liverpool Crown Court painted a different picture.

The collision occurred around 10pm on Friday, January 25, 2019, as Mr.

Caine's Ford Fiesta was making a right turn onto Queens Drive.

The impact was devastating; the Fiesta was thrown onto its side, and the force of the crash uprooted a nearby tree and struck a lamppost.

Prosecutor Robert Dudley detailed that Pearson's speed was well above the legal limit, and he had reached 100mph before the collision.

After the crash, Pearson, along with two companions he had been dining with in Crosby, initially approached the wreckage to offer assistance.

However, a crowd had already gathered, including an off-duty paramedic who was out with his family and was among the first to respond.

Throughout the investigation, Pearson provided inconsistent accounts to the police.

At the scene, he insisted he was only driving at 40mph, and during subsequent interviews months later, he even shifted blame onto Mr.

Caine for the accident.

Furthermore, Pearson claimed in a psychiatric report that he had tried to help the victim and that Mr.

Caine was dying in his arms, a statement the prosecution strongly contested and which Judge Stuart Driver, QC, dismissed as untrue.

Ultimately, Pearson pleaded guilty to causing death by dangerous driving and was sentenced to six years in prison.

The court's decision underscored the severity of his reckless behavior and the tragic loss of life that resulted from his excessive speed and disregard for safety.
