JACK DAVIES PLYMOUTH PENSIONER SENTENCED FOR CHILD SEX OFFENCES IN CHESTER
In a case that has spanned decades, a 70-year-old man from Plymouth, Jack Davies, has been sentenced to prison after being found guilty of multiple historic child sex offences. The offences, which date back to the 1980s, involved the abuse of a young girl who was under the age of 11 at the time of the incidents.
Davies, who resides on Fengen Road in Plymouth, faced charges of five counts of indecent assault and indecency with a child.
The case was brought before Mold Crown Court, which is located in Chester, where the jury delivered a guilty verdict after a trial.
Despite his denial of the allegations, the evidence presented was compelling enough for the jury to convict him.
During the sentencing hearing on Monday, Judge Rhys Rowlands sentenced Davies to five and a half years in prison.
In addition to the custodial sentence, Davies was ordered to register as a sex offender with the police for the rest of his life.
Furthermore, a restraining order was issued, prohibiting him from contacting the victim for a period of ten years.
The judge acknowledged the defendant’s advanced age but emphasized the severity and lasting impact of his actions.
He stated, “It is clear that your behaviour towards her had a profound and continuing effect on her over the years, and now as an adult.” The victim, who has since grown into an adult woman, provided a victim impact statement during the proceedings.
She revealed that she had received counselling and was on anti-depressants, describing her childhood as being “robbed” by the abuse she endured.
Her statement underscored the long-term emotional scars inflicted by Davies’ actions, which continue to affect her to this day.
