Jack Blewett Stalker in Bristol

A resident of Cornwall received a 20-month prison sentence after admitting to stalking a fellow student in Bristol.

Jack Blewett, who is now 20 years old, conducted a five-month campaign of sending emails and messages from anonymous and encrypted accounts between September 2019 and February 2020.

His communications included abusive and threatening content, with one message mentioning packages to be sent to the victim and referencing a ‘big finale’ alongside a gun emoji.

The case was supported by digital evidence on Blewett’s devices, IP data from his social media profiles, and forensic analysis of a handwritten note, which collectively established his involvement in the offences.

Residing at Rosehill Meadow in Heamoor, Penzance, Blewett was sentenced at Bristol Crown Court on Friday, June 12, after admitting to two counts of stalking causing significant alarm or distress.

Detective David Barrie commented: “Blewett’s actions caused prolonged distress to his victim.

His fixation and jealousy over her friendships were concerning.

“Instead of accepting responsibility early on, Blewett chose to mock officers through anonymous emails and escalated his threats, which added to the victim’s fear and anxiety.

“This investigation was complex, involving coordination between officers from Avon & Somerset, Devon & Cornwall, and the South West Regional Cyber Crime Unit, among others.

“I particularly want to acknowledge the victim’s cooperation and support during the process.
