NOTTINGHAM STUDENT JAILED FOR VIEWING CHILD ABUSE VIDEOS
A 21-year-old student had been viewing videos of children being raped, a court heard.
Jack Bastide-Walker, of Sturgeon Avenue, Clifton, was sentenced on Tuesday (February 28) at Nottingham Crown Court over indecent images and videos of children.
He had viewed 234 in Category A - the most serious - 176 in Category B and 100 in Category C.
Among those were 202 videos.
Bastide-Walker pleaded guilty to three charges of downloading the images.
Addressing him in the dock, Judge Mark Watson told him: "You know that these images were disgusting." Bastide-Walker replied: "Yes." The judge continued: "There were videos of children being raped and they were on the internet for people such as you to arouse their sexual interest.
You acknowledge that and acknowledged that very early on." "You sought help for that, and probation takes the view they can provide a constructive insight into your life." A community order for three years was imposed, with 42 hours of an accredited programme, and 30 rehabilitation activity days.
The defendant is now subject to sign the sex offenders' register and a sexual harm prevention order, both for five years.
The judge told him: "You are studying as a student currently.
I make no order as to costs.
"You are free to go - whether you come back is in your hands now."
