October 2009 Huddersfield nurse Ivor Foster jailed for child abuse images offences A HUDDERSFIELD nurse has been jailed after police found 40,000 indecent images of children at his home and office. Ivor Foster, who worked as a mental health nurse, was found to have the images on his computers and on a stock of DVDs. Foster, 43, formerly of Fartown, had been working as manager of a residential centre for the elderly in Barnsley. The offences came to light when another member of staff at the centre checked on Foster’s office computer and found an image of a young girl in an indecent pose. Police then searched Foster’s home and found a computer, a laptop and a pile of DVDs. Leeds Crown Court was told checks revealed that there were 30,673 indecent images on the computer, 14,240 stored on the DVDs and 1,112 on his office computer. Adam Birkby, prosecuting, said more than 3,300 of the images were classed as level four or five, the most serious. Foster was said to have an “addiction” for child porn and pleaded guilty to 21 offences of possessing or making indecent images. He was jailed for 14 months by Judge Geoffrey Marson QC, who said the images showed children as young as six or seven. The judge said: “The psychological damage they must have suffered cannot be overestimated let alone the physical harm to which they have been subjected”. Foster was also ordered to register as a sex offender for 10 years and banned from working with children.
